When Richard approached Point1 Building Systems for a quotation we were delighted to be able to put forward a proposal for this unique and unusual design.

With a cantilevered Kingspan TEK® roof extending past the Kingspan TEK® external wall line, a high performance Polythene Vapour Control Layer was specified, primarily due to the type of roof covering. VCL strips were fitted by Point1 at the heads of all walls and to the top of support beams to allow installation and continuous taping of the 1200g /300Mu VCL (Vapour Control Layer) from below by the PC. 

The garage walls were specified as 172mm Kingspan TEK® SIPS panels to enclose and insulate between the habitable rooms and the integral garage.

An additional layer of insulation was supplied and installed to both the inside of the external Kingspan TEK® walls and underside of the Kingspan TEK® roof panels reducing the Uvalues down to 0.11W/m2.k which resulted in the building achieving near Passivhaus levels of building fabric performance.
